The Cranberry Chicken Salad wrap was fantastic. Better than that? Our server, Ms. Paige. It was literally her 3rd day and she was the only wait staff on the floor. She was a consummate professional from start to stop of our visit. Very clean, quaint place for a nice breakfast or lunch, coffee options, or just to relax for a bit.
Great coffee. Sister and I shared country fried steak breakfast... it came already split! Great amount of food. Great taste and value too. GREAT TASTING COFFEE!!!
Perfect for breakfast and lunch. We had our staff meeting here, lunch with a friend, breakfast with my hubby. All was fresh and tasty.
My FAVORITE place to stop and eat when I come to Sunset Beach! I Love this little Cafe!! Best food around hands down! 😋
Food undercooked. 2nd burger came out undercooked again.
Backstreet Cafe has been supplying our 4th of July needs for years!! Absolutely delicious food made with love!! Great staff, too!!
Went to the Backstreet Cafe for lunch in early March. Great menu and service. We ordered the TriBeCa and Magnolia sandwiches. Both excellent. Can't wait to try again!
Great cafe with exquisite food
Okay. I swung by this place for something quick to eat and I was really surprised. The panini was delicious. My friend's wrap was great and the fries were perfect. The servers were so friendly and polite. I will definitely be going back with my wife. :)
I was exited to eat at this restaurant because other reviewers say that the food was great. However, upon arrival I quickly realized that something was not right. The place seemed rundown and unkept. However, I wanted to try it and not judge on appearance. When I was seated, I knew that my assumption was correct. It took forever to even get our drink order in despite there being only one other table in the cafe. When our food finally got here, my pancakes tasted like dirty griddle, and the “blueberries” were questionable at best. The reason I give it two stars was because the wait staff were kind and helpful despite being seemingly inexperienced.
The girl working the front was a sweet heart and the food is decent but Steve (the chef) is rude and loud. I walked right behind him from outside (I guess he was getting something from his car)and he let the door close in my face instead of slightly holding it so I could walk in.. a simply gesture goes a long way with costumers! Also, I have been in here several times and it is so uncomfortable the way he talks down to his employees. His voice carries throughout the restaurant and he makes no effort to hide the fact he is annoyed. Steve, be professional and kind, it goes a long way with humans, especially your costumers.
Love this place. Food is really really good.
Awesome food n service. Great variety on the menu too.
I live down the street from this cafe and I will drive 20 minutes out of my way to get better service, coffee, and food if I really want something. I’ve never waited less than 15 minutes to get an order. Even if my order is literally just a scoop of chicken salad to go. Worst service ever with little to no excuse. Very inefficient way to run a business. Don’t eat here.
Relaxing atmosphere, gracious service, comfort homemade food, delightful experience to be repeated.
Friendly Waitress...Poor Breakfast Place for Pancakes. First one was raw in the middle while second one was just gummy. 20 minute wait for coffee. Ham was good and cafe mocha mediocre.
Walked in and waited 10 minutes Hoping to get a table. Two women walking back and forth never even acknowledged that we were standing there. We left. This is the third time we have been there and had awful service. Every time we go in there are new women working. Will not be going back
I'm from Pennsylvania and the food was pretty good, I had Turkey b l t wrap with macaroni salad not bad I would go back
Breakfast today was the worst ever for all 3 of us! The pancakes arrived gooey ,soft scrambled eggs grilled until brown and my eggs very cold, the manager wouldn't even come out to see us but told our waitress no charge. Who cares! We still wanted pancakes and the second order was still gooey!! Too many other good places in town to eat. Never going back.
Great food, great portion, great price. Fries are fantastic!
Cute place.....food was so so. Service was terrible. Our main server appeared overwhelmed and frazzled at a brunch "rush". The owners wife (as she identified herself) didnt seem to care if customers were pleased or not. To top it all off, my group of 6 literally waited for 34 minutes to pay our tickets as the "owners wife" continuously kept cutting in between our waitresses transactions to ring in a larger table that finished after we were already at the register.
We were driving by and happened upon this restaurant, and although we were a few minutes before closing time (which we didn't know about), they were very accommodating! The staff was very nice and the food was delicious!!
Had a nice lunch and the people were very nice and attentive. Good local place.
Great Food! Consistent Quality! Friendly Staff! The food is Fresh and Wonderful! Love this place...we drive here from Holden Beach twice a week...Please open one here! I'm giving you 10 **********'s!
Horrible experience. Ordered the “fresh caught crab” omelet. The first three bites had crab shell pieces in them. The third bite had a huge chunk of shell the size of a paper clip. I also found a piece of black curly hair from the cook with long hair who was not made to wear a hair net.Upon telling the waitress, she was incredibly apologetic and informed us that the crab came from cans so it wasn’t necessarily their fault there was shell mixed in. When we informed her that the menu stated it was fresh caught, local crab, she hesitated before answering and stated that even though it was from cans, it was fresh caught, and local.Right.So my advice is to save yourself the headache. We had 9 people in our party- 3 people enjoyed their food and they were children.
Best kept secret in Sunset Beach! A rare jewel, Backstreet Cafe has fantastic breakfast, brunch and lunch. Their coffee bar is a great touch and the iced coffee is wonderful. The servers are friendly and on the ball! A great place for breakfast before a day on the beach.
Love their French toast. And staff is always friendly
So I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I ate the Manhattan sandwich and my husband had the Hot One wrap. Fries were truly delicious. Good portions and good prices! Not to mention, the servers and chefs were so, so nice. All around fabulous place. We will be back soon!
Everything we've had has been amazing. Service is awesome. We will be back!
It was really good, it was busy and they were alittle under staffed due to the hurricane approaching, but we also learned that they are moving to the new public down the road. So that will be interesting to see the new layout.
Staff was so accommodating to our large group. We called ahead and got wonderful service from amber! The food was wonderful/mindblowing and it makes me sad I can't come here every week since I was here for a weekend event. 10/5 stars!
Service is not good, waited over 30 minutes for a coffee and muffin, and simple eggs and bacon . Had to go up to counter to ask for my toast and jelly that they forgot . I noticed some customers complaining about waiting long . The food wasn't so good , the employees are dry. I hope anyone that visits this place has a better experience .
Went in for breakfast. Left after waiting to be seated for 15 min. It was clear the two ladies waiting tables were overwhelmed although about half the tables were occupied. A party of 9 was also waiting. The food here has always been good but it seems they need some more help
Had a great lunch here. The waitstaff was attentive and polite and knew about the menu items. I ordered the day's special and was very happy with it. I'm not certain they know how to make specific coffees with their espresso machine, but whatever I got when I ordered a double espresso was still really tasty and did the trick to pep me up.
Grilled peach salad topped with fresh red snapper.....was to die for! Service was OK but the food made up for it. Best restaurant meal in ages!!
Good food, fresh and local.
I would like to start with the food is good. No complaints at all with the food. The cafe needs help and is hiring. Service is slow and not friendly. We got up to get our own refills, etc. trying to help as it was clearly busy. We are a group of women that were greated with attitude upon entering that continued throughout our entire dining experience until we left. We will not be back. Note....friendly service would go a long way...
California omlet. Wonderful!!
It was decent, nice people/service, food was good but lol eggs were way too slimy/runny, guess I had to specify not slimy
We came in and it was decently busy. They said the would be right with us and took about 20 minutes to clear a table, while we were standing there the whole time. They advertise Pepsi, however when my friend asked for some they said they were out and poured Coke out of a 2 liter and it was flat. After getting chocolate milk, they left the milk carton out for about 15 minutes. When we ordered our server didn't seem to know the menu and took. a long time to write it down, not writing down our sides. After waiting we were disappointed with our food, the grilled cheese was small and one side was completely burnt. The pancakes were alright. Overall not a great experience.
Nice place. Waitress was nice as well. I have my tried the cubano. Not an authentic cubano like you get at places in NY, more of their take on it, but it was still good.
The lattes were great. The sandwich was way too big but it was delicious. The atmosphere is a bit cool, but seams clean. Take a coat, you'll need it.
I recommend their blackened fish garden salad of the day. I had grouper and it was very yummy! Paige our waitress was fantastic. There fish was local catch too!
Horrible food even worse service.
Really good food. Limited hours.
Great coffee and food options. They have a full espresso bar along with a table service restaurant. I enjoyed the fried flounder sandwich and the fresh cut fries were delicious.
Came in today and had the grouper sandwich. The young server was outstanding. She appeared to be the only one on staff and handled the lunch rush like a pro. I believe the owner brought my plate out from the kitchen and served it to me along with a drink refill. The sandwich was AMAZING. Thanks, I will be back...
We stopped in for breakfast and thought it looked like nice place. I ordered an omelet which came with potatoes and toast. My wife ordered over medium eggs, sausage and pancakes. Coffee was served luke warm and then it got a whole lot worse! The omelet was flat, tasteless. Potatoes had obviously been setting around for long time and barely warm. This was the best part! When my wife's food came the eggs were overcooked and yolks were broken. The sausage was worse than what is served at McDonalds! Saving the worst for last were the pancakes! Undercooked Goo!! We will never return to this place and I would strongly suggest that you find ANYWHERE else to have breakfast!
We used Backstreet Cafe for the catering at our wedding and it did not disappoint! Steve was extremely helpful from the get go since we were planning a wedding from out of state. He eased any concerns I had before the actual day. They delivered on time and provided exactly what we asked for and the pricing was very reasonable. I would highly recommend using them for catering!
